An evening of celebration

26 January 2015

Staff and their relatives gathered together on Friday night to celebrate yet another incredible year at the AMRC at a themed Burn's night supper.

It is also a special year for our own John Baragwanath, projects director, who is celebrating his 70th birthday later this week. Not always keen to be at the centre of attention, he was brought on stage by Keith Ridgway, research director, and received a number of gifts and received a bit of ribbing about his "advancing years".

In addition, Keith wanted to mark outstanding service by twins Jamie and Shane Smith, who between them have worked for the University of Sheffield for an incredible 73 years.

The evening's celebration did not end there, when Keith surprised the entire audience by joining in the band at the end of the evening on his bagpipes. Keith's been learning for three years and brought everyone to their feet to get the party started.
