An academic from the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) has been elected as an Associate Member of the prestigious The International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP).

Dr Erdem Ozturk, a Technology Fellow, who leads the Machining Dynamics group, is one of only 150 academics from across the world to receive Associate Membership of CIRP - the world leading global organization in production engineering and research.

Dr Ozturk, who has previously been a Research Affiliate of CIRP for the last six years, said: “This is a huge milestone in my career and I feel very privileged to be made an Associate Member.”

Associate Members are well-known scientists, with high potential, elected typically for a period of three years with the possibility of renewal. A number of Associate members eventually become Fellows.

The Academy has restricted membership based on demonstrated excellence in research and has academic and industrial members from 50 industrialised countries.

CIRP is the world leading organisation in production engineering research and is at the forefront of design, optimization, control and management of processes, machines and systems.

The AMRC has corporate membership of CIRP.
